Glasses they clank and rattle and clink While people they sit and wonder and think And I'm at the bar, hearing all there is to hear And falling in love at three dollars a beer
A woman to my left, she whines and weeps While the man on her shoulder doesn't make a peep And normally I'd wonder if he wasn't a little queer But I'm falling in love at three dollars a beer
The bartender smiles, and hands me a bottle Knowing full-well I'm half-cocked at full throttle But my tips are good and they bring her good cheer 'Cause I'm falling in love at three dollars a beer
It's three o'clock when her shift is ending Hoping she'd pick up on the messages I'm sending That I'd give her my heart and share all my fear 'Cause I'm falling in love at three dollars a beer
She took me home and did I-don't-know-what-to-call-it And I woke up alone with no money in my wallet And here I thought our love was sincere But I had just fallen in love at three dollars a beer

Love it. Knowing where the inspiration came from adds an extra layer of enjoyment, but it stands alone perfectly well.

I now want to know the inspiration, because this is enjoyable, somewhat funny, and poetic. Awesome man!
