Your scent filled the room, as your eyes cast that glance I risked it all for nothing, why'd I take that stupid chance Strolling by telling me nothing, was that part of your plan? I don't want to be a footnote, but I don't want to be your man
It was a hand I should have folded, but I was caught by those eyes They prodded me like daggers, they told me nothing but lies You're a chapter in my book, but I'm only a footnote Tore through my life leaving it, battered beaten and broke
You found who you were looking for, and it wasn't gonna be me Five beers in I stand up, stumbling I need to leave We had some great times, and I don't want to blame you But you took off leaving me with whiskey colored blues
Ours eyes meet but I ducked away, lacking courage I'm ashamed I want to be missed and important, for all the whiskey for all the pain I take a shot to be brave, I need to know what I meant but as I turn around, all I'm left is your scent

It's actually a song, but I dropped off the chorus for poem sake. (the chorus is weak anyhow)

I really dig the atmosphere and story in this one. You definitely get the drunken heartache feeling from it.
